Analisis Dampak Penggunaan Bahasa Daerah terhadap Kemampuann Berbahasa Indonesia Mahasiswa dalam Komunikasi Sehari-hari
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak penggunaan bahasa daerah terhadap kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia mahasiswa dalam komunikasi sehari-hari. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap lima mahasiswa dari suku Batak Toba, Batak Karo, Batak Simalungun, dan Jawa. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bahasa daerah masih sangat mendominasi kehidupan sehari-hari mahasiswa, terutama di dalam keluarga, lingkungan sosial, dan kampus. Penggunaan Bahasa daerah memiliki dampak pada kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia, termasuk munculnya campur kode, penggunaan aksen lokal, kesulitan dalam memilih kosakata formal, dan rendahnya kepercayaan diri saat berbicara Bahasa Indonesia baku di situasi akademis. Meskipun begitu, penggunaan bahasa daerah juga memberikan sisi positif, yaitu memperkuat hubungan sosial dan mempertahankan identitas budaya lokal. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa diharapkan dapat mengatur penggunaan bahasanya sesuai dengan konteks, sambil tetap melestarikan bahasa daerah tanpa mengurangi kemampuan dalam menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar.
