Penggunaan Emoji sebagai Tanda Komunikasi di Tik Tok: Analisis Semiotika terhadap Perubahan Makna Pesan, dari Charles Sanders Peirce
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan emoji sebagai tanda komunikasi dalam media sosial TikTok serta mengkaji perubahan makna emoji berdasarkan konteks penggunaannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif serta analisis semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce yang meliputi sign, object, dan interpretant. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan dokumentasi terhadap komentar dan caption pada beberapa konten TikTok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa emoji memiliki peran penting dalam komunikasi digital sebagai sarana untuk memperkuat emosi, memperjelas maksud pesan, serta menggantikan ekspresi nonverbal. Selain itu, makna emoji bersifat fleksibel dan dapat berubah tergantung pada konteks, situasi, dan interpretasi pengguna. Emoji yang sama dapat memiliki makna yang berbeda, seperti menunjukkan kesedihan, humor, atau sindiran. Dengan demikian, emoji tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai simbol tambahan, tetapi juga sebagai tanda yang memiliki makna kompleks dalam komunikasi digital. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam kajian semiotika serta meningkatkan pemahaman pengguna media sosial dalam menggunakan emoji secara tepat.
