Konstruksi Makna Ekologis dalam Novel Puya ke Puya Karya Faisal Oddang: Kajian Lawrence Buell
Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh relasi manusia dan alam tidak hanya bersifat fisik, tetapi mengandung makna sombolik dan spiritual yang membentuk kesakralan alam dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konstruksi makna ekologis dalam novel Puya ke Puya karya Faisal Oddang menggunakan pendekatan ekokritik Lawrence Buell berdasarkan dua aspek utama yang akan dianalisis adalah non-human presence dipandang bukan sekadar latar, melainkan memiliki peran dalam pembentukan makna. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data utama berupa novel Puya ke Puya karya Faisal Oddang terbitan tahun 2016, dengan referensi pendukung dari buku dan jurnal ilmiah. Data dikumpulkan melalui Teknik baca dan catat, serta dianalisis melalui tahap reduksi, klasifikasi data, dan penarikan simbulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat konstruksi makna ekologis terlihat pada non-human melalui simbol-simbol dan narasi mitos dalam masyarakat adat Toraja dalam novel Puya ke Puya karya Faisal Oddang, sehingga terdapat relasi timbal-balik antara manusia dan alam dalam perwujudan adat di masyarakat Toraja. Kebaruan pada penelitian ini agar dapat mengungkapkan makna ekologis melalui simbol alam yang terselubung pada novel Puya ke Puya karya Faisal Oddang.
