Analisis Kesalahan Berbahasa Indonesia dalam Diskusi Akademik Mahasiswa Prodi Geografi Universitas Negeri Medan
Abstract
Bahasa Indonesia merupakan bahasa yang sangat penting dalam kegiatan akademik di sekolah menengah atas. Dalam wacana akademik, siswa diharapkan mampu menggunakan bahasa Indonesia yang jelas dan tepat agar argumen, pendapat, dan gagasan dapat disampaikan secara efektif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis tingkat kemahiran bahasa Indonesia, mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis hambatan bahasa, serta memahami faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi hambatan bahasa dalam diskusi akademik di Program Studi Geografi, Universitas Negeri Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui pengamatan diskusi akademik dan interaksi dengan mahasiswa angkatan 2024, serta didukung oleh berbagai data yang relevan. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemahiran siswa dalam menggunakan bahasa Indonesia masih cukup rendah. Kesalahan leksikal, penggunaan bahasa informal, kesalahan struktur kalimat, serta interferensi antara dialek daerah dan bahasa gaul merupakan beberapa masalah utama yang muncul. Faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap masalah ini meliputi, namun tidak terbatas pada, preferensi penggunaan bahasa informal dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, pengaruh lingkungan sosial, kurangnya kesadaran akan kemahiran berbahasa Indonesia, kurangnya kemahiran berbahasa formal, serta kurangnya minat dalam membaca dan menulis. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan upaya untuk mendorong penggunaan bahasa Indonesia dalam kegiatan akademik guna meningkatkan kualitas komunikasi siswa.
