Fenomena Campur Kode dan Alih Kode dalam Komunikasi Digital Mahasiswa
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk campur kode dan alih kode yang digunakan mahasiswa PJKR H 2023 Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan Universitas Negeri Medan dalam percakapan grup WhatsApp kelas, serta menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi terjadinya penggunaan dua bahasa tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara dan dokumentasi percakapan digital. Data dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Batak secara bergantian maupun secara bersamaan dalam struktur kalimat, sehingga membentuk pola campur kode ke dalam dan alih kode yang muncul secara spontan sesuai konteks. Faktor yang memengaruhi penggunaan dua bahasa ini antara lain kedekatan sosial, identitas budaya, efisiensi komunikasi, serta kebiasaan kelompok yang mayoritas berasal dari etnis Batak. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa beberapa mahasiswa yang bukan penutur bahasa Batak meminta penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia agar komunikasi tetap dapat dipahami secara menyeluruh. Kesimpulannya, praktik campur kode dan alih kode dalam grup WhatsApp kelas mencerminkan dinamika linguistik dan sosial mahasiswa, sekaligus menunjukkan adanya kebutuhan penyesuaian bahasa untuk menjaga efektivitas dan inklusivitas komunikasi di lingkungan yang heterogen.
