Eksistensi Begu Ganjang dalam Kehidupan Masyarakat Batak Modern: Perspektif Kepercayaan Tradisional dan Dinamika Sosial Kontemporer
Abstract
Penelitian ini berfokus pada eksistensi mitos begu ganjang sebagai bagian dari sistem kepercayaan tradisional masyarakat Batak yang masih bertahan di tengah arus modernisasi. Dalam perjalanan sejarahnya, Begu Ganjang telah menjadi bagian integral dari kehidupan spiritual masyarakat Batak, bukan sekadar kisah mistis, tetapi juga simbol nilai-nilai sosial, moral, dan kultural yang mengatur pola pikir serta perilaku kolektif. Seiring berkembangnya ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, sebagian masyarakat mulai memandang mitos ini secara kritis dan rasional, namun nilai-nilai filosofis yang terkandung di dalamnya tetap berfungsi sebagai pedoman moral dan identitas budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi lapangan, dan kajian literatur. Lokasi penelitian berada di Desa Sarimatondang, Kecamatan Sidamanik, Kabupaten Simalungun, daerah yang masih menjaga warisan kepercayaan terhadap Begu Ganjang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun modernisasi membawa perubahan besar terhadap cara pandang masyarakat, mitos Begu Ganjang tetap hidup sebagai narasi budaya yang mengandung pesan moral dan spiritual. Mitos ini kini dipahami bukan semata sebagai kisah gaib, tetapi sebagai refleksi atas hubungan manusia dengan alam, leluhur, dan nilai sosial yang menata kehidupan bersama. Dengan demikian, eksistensi Begu Ganjang menegaskan bahwa warisan budaya takbenda masih memiliki relevansi penting dalam membentuk karakter dan jati diri masyarakat di era modern.
